The first funding phase creates the foundation for turning existing concepts, platforms, partnerships and initial applications into a connected and scalable ReGen Ecosystem.

Why catalytic capital?

Because the greatest opportunities often emerge before a traditional investment case exists.

A new solution may first require research. A project may need the right partners. A challenge may need to be understood collaboratively. Young people need access to knowledge long before a company can emerge from it.

Philanthropic and catalytic capital enables exactly these early steps. ReGen creates the infrastructure from which projects, collaborations, organisations and investable opportunities can later emerge, without every activity having to generate a commercial return from the outset.

The connection to regenerative capital

Funding can create an entirely new field of opportunities over time.

ReGen itself remains nonprofit. However, when mature projects, companies or other financeable opportunities emerge from the ecosystem, they can later become visible through ReGen Impact to interested Family Offices.

This creates a clear connection: Philanthropic capital enables discovery and development. The ecosystem creates knowledge, relationships and new solutions. ReGen Impact can later connect suitable opportunities with regenerative capital. Any funding, participation or investment decision remains entirely separate from this process.

Who receives the funding?
The nonprofit funding goes to the Germany-based KNE Sustainability Institute gGmbH. It is responsible for building and operating the nonprofit areas of the ReGen Ecosystem. Funding for ReGen is legally and financially separate from a commercial engagement with KNE Global GmbH for ReGen Impact and from an investment in coOwn Sàrl.
Why does ReGen need catalytic capital?
ReGen is not intended to run only individual programmes, but to build and scale four connected platforms as shared infrastructure. This includes technology and integration, as well as team, programmes, partnerships, Foundries, knowledge offers, community building and free access for young people. Catalytic capital forms the first funding phase for this development.
What forms of funding are possible?
Funding can take different forms depending on the funding partner. These can include donations, grants, philanthropic funding, catalytic capital or strategic funding partnerships. The specific structure is agreed together with the respective Family Office, foundation or institutional funding partner.
Am I funding companies or investments?
No. The funding supports the nonprofit infrastructure and activities of the ReGen Ecosystem. Independent projects, organisations or ventures may later emerge from Network connections, Foundries, knowledge or youth projects. Any subsequent funding or investment in such opportunities is a separate decision and is not part of the original ReGen funding.
How will I see what the capital achieves?
The funding will be connected to clear development goals for platforms, programmes, users, partnerships and ecosystem activities. As the infrastructure develops, impact should increasingly become visible not only through individual activities, but also through the connections, collaborations, projects and new opportunities that emerge. Funding partners receive transparent reporting on progress and use of funds within the framework of the respective agreement.
Can a Family Office fund ReGen, use ReGen Impact and invest in coOwn at the same time?
Yes. The three pathways complement one another, but remain legally and financially separate. A Family Office can commission its own Living Portfolio through KNE Global GmbH, fund the nonprofit Opportunity Engine through KNE Sustainability Institute gGmbH, and independently consider a commercial investment in coOwn. None of these pathways requires participation in another.
